Under a
cloudless sky and light south-easterlies, hundreds of onlookers witnessed the
Maltese Falcon depart the ancient Grand Harbor Marina under full sail early
Saturday morning. They watched and waved her farewell as the magnificent
ship disappeared into calm seas, bound for the South of France and the
beginning of a fantastic summer ahead.
The past
three months in Malta have certainly passed quickly. For many of the
crew, their time off has been consumed by exploring this fascinating place,
indulging in the plethora of available cuisines and making friends with a
community that have treated us as their own. We’ve seen the pope
and his mobile, eaten Maltese Rabbit, flew to Gozo in a sea plane, celebrated a
crew member’s 40th and carried out a massive wash down after
the fireworks festival!
Aside
from the many adventures we have enjoyed, the crew has been working
relentlessly to ensure the illustrious yacht is in immaculate shape for this
upcoming season.
The
interior of the yacht has undergone a face lift with new detail and artwork
that brings to life a fresh personality onboard the ship. Her engines and
systems have been serviced and tested, the stainless is flawless and the boys have
even cut their hair.
So now,
the Mediterranean season is just around the corner and the Maltese Falcon is
about to embark on another action packed trip around the Med!
She’ll be at the Monaco Grand Prix for one of the biggest parties of the
year followed by the Cannes film festival. Then, we’ll be off on a
busy trip sailing to some of the Med’s most glamorous and eminent
hotspots. You’ll certainly see her make an appearance at the Palma
Superyacht Cup in June for yet another great event, and the list goes on…
The world
famous yacht is looking better than ever and the crew is geared up for a
fantastic next few months of non-stop action, so stay tuned!
