The 2010 Antigua Charter Yacht Show
Between the 6th and 11th of December,
the Maltese Falcon took part in the famous Antigua Charter Yacht Show in
Falmouth Harbour. This year’s show was a huge success, with well
over 110 yachts in attendance. Not surprisingly, the Falcon was by far
the largest yacht at the show at 88m in length. With her freshly
varnished cap rail and detailed interior and exterior, she was displayed in
showroom condition!
Luckily the weather cooperated pretty well during most of
the show, with the usual Caribbean rainstorms usually only lasting for a few
minutes. This encouraged the brokers to come and visit all the yachts, so
we had the opportunity to give hundreds of tours to charter brokers from all
over the world. Many had never before seen the interior of the Maltese
Falcon, and others had visited in the past but wanted to view the new artwork
installed after the yacht was sold about a year and a half ago.
On Saturday, after the show had officially ended, a dozen
brokers had the opportunity to come for a “mini-charter” with us to
experience the yacht’s fantastic hospitality. The day began with a
glorious 3-hour sail in 10-15 knot winds, followed by a few hours at anchor in
Antigua’s Carlisle Bay along with several other yachts from the
show. The brokers were treated to a fantastic lunch prepared by our Chefs
Sasha and Ralf, and then got to have some fun in the sun with our jet skis and
tenders. We’re confident that we gave these privileged brokers an
experience that they will never forget!
Now that the show is over, the crew of the Maltese Falcon is
looking forward to an exciting Caribbean season!
